The first full-length 1985 release. MASA number 033. Many songs were improv-ised, all were self-recorded (either via hand-hled tape recorder of four-track recorder).

This is a live set from the Seattle/Bellingham based group (duo, here) 1985 from a show at the Nightlight Lounge on March 9th, 2006. This was a dream come true sort of show for the band, as they were able to open up for their all-time favorite band Low (Of Duluth, MN). You can find 1985 online at: www.masarecords.com/1985.html (more info coming)...

This is the latest A Sandcastle Still record and, discounting the future release of a covers record, might possibly be the last. Most these songs were wrote at the same time as they were recorded, ie, they were improv-ed and most others were less than an hour old at the time of their recording. The songs were recorded on a four track cassette recorder and a hand held cassette recorder over the period of several months in the winter of 2004 and came about a years worth of artistic silence, at...

Clamdust is James. James used to play in Language Arts, Bellingham's staple pop band of the last five years. This album is 16 tracks of four-tracked material that James wrote and recorded over the last 4-5 years. Mostly acoustic songs, they are filled out with all the lovely toys and harmonies that make modern indie pop just so sweet and delicious. Which isn't to say the album is all apple orchards and glee. James has a knack for the darker heartfelt, and it bleeds through. James is currently...

This is the second album from 1985 and the first studio album. It was rushed out, a little too quickly, prior to the 1985 / Goldstar / Circus Of The Stars tour in August & September.

The concept behind this album was to have four engineering friends with analog equipment and tendencies to record four songs each. Each engineer was given one of the four physical elements and asked to try and do their magic in such a way as to embody that element. The songs they recorded were selected to be the most fitting, lyrically and musically, for the element they were given. The album was recorded in July and August, 2002. Dave Matthies (the gift machine) recorded the Water tracks at...

This is MASA Records 009, an EP by Bellingham songwriter Jackie Fiegel who later performed as Jackie Bang. These five songs were recorded by Clyde Peterson (of Your Heart Breaks) and the EP was released just ahead of a early summer 2000 west coast tour with fellow MASA act A Sandcastle Still. This is a split between three newer, and more rocking, MASA acts with two songs from each band. The songs were all recorded in one day by kevin gay Durr at Billy Vicious Studios (aka B-18's practise space).

This Is Blair Harris, from Little Rock, Arkansas. Her first album, "My Name Is Blah," was self-released until MASA found out just how great Blairs music is. Some songs were self-recorded, others with the assistance of a friend (Ross Benson). Blair says: "I'm a one gal band. I play the guitar and vocal chords. All these songs are written by me and by the encouragement of a few special friends. Recently I've learned how to make my ears bleed and how not to play the viola."

Another spontaneous, ASS-worthy conceptualization. From the linear notes: "written and recorded in less than 60 minutes on a handheld cassette recorder inside the belly of sylvia on the corner of 35th street and hawthorne in portland, oregon late on the night of september 21st, 2002." dark, acoustic mellow drama.

This is the new 1985 recording called The "Emaline EP." Emaline is a Kasey Anderson song. There are four newer songs that follow, done int he new six-string electric form of 1985. And the last seven tracks are a live set at Dunes (Portland, OR) on 1/31/05 towards the end of the 1985/ Tony Presley Winter Greyhound Tour to the presidential inauguration.

this the debut and final studio album from Cardinal, a noisy and dark rock band. Featuring members of a sandcastle still, b-18 and the charm faucets, the project lasted about a year and half before folding in October 2003. The album was recorded over several months (March to August 2003) due to band members living in three different cities and the studio, Skrocki Studios, being in a fourth. "The Conversation" is an audio clip sample from the 1974 film of the same name.

Jimes was broke until they put out their first album, "Whose got the Money?" The popularity of the album gave them enough money to record an EP, aptly titled "EP EP EP EP." The music sounds like nothing heard before, unless Jimes has been heard before. The Dodi Al Fayed have been entrusted by the late Dodi himself to preserve his legacy via laying down "sweet jam" music to the audio archives that were his journals and diary, giving new meaning to the term...

The sets on this album were recorded live at the Humdinger Haus on February 26, 2000, an all-ages show that alwso saw sets from Dressy Bessy and the Aisler's set. Dear Nora, as most by now know, is one of the West Coast's mostsweet, infectious pop outfits. This is an early, warm set from them and is a charming testament to the genius of Katy Davidson. My Little Brother are long time MASA cohorts, and their set is an accurate capturing of them in all their raw, pop brilliance and unrehearsed...
